Post-editing of AI and machine translations (MTPE)
There is no way around it, translation work is nowadays often relegated to advanced technology. But although the machines and AIs can produce grammatically correct and smooth sentences, their output is still problematic. Because the systems draw from sources that are too generic, any project-specific terminology is not incorporated. Figures of speech are completely missed, texts are dry and uniform and stay too close to the original English in terms of style and syntax. I can edit materials translated or written by AIs so that they contain the correct terminology, have a personal tone and read as fluent and idiomatic Dutch.

My name is Pieter Vlugt. I was born and raised in the province of Noord-Holland in the Netherlands and nowadays live in the beautiful and quiet city of Zutphen. Since 1996 I have been running a freelance translation practice in the language combination English-Dutch. I started out as a technical translator, especially for the automotive industry, and later developed my skills in the marketing, software and legal fields. In recent years I gained a lot of experience with translations for social media, ecommerce and mobile apps. In my free time I like to listen to music or explore the region on my road bike.
